Zac Efron to Play Drug Smuggler

He ditched the “Footloose” remake for fear of being typecast, and it looks like Zac Efron will ditch his teeny bopper image for good with his next film.

The “High School Musical” star will play a scheming cocaine smuggler in the upcoming movie “Snabba Cash,” a remake of a Swedish film.

Of his choice to do the film, Zac explained, “I find that it’s always more interesting to live out your fantasies through characters.”

“It’s not necessarily that I’m afraid to be myself — it’s that you get to do cooler things, you get to be a more interesting person when you’re playing someone else. You get to be all the things you wanted to be, or someone else that was really cool, or be someone that you really hate.”
