Ted Danson Replaces Laurence Fishburne on "CSI"

He’s had a variety of different roles over the course of his extensive acting career, and now Ted Danson is trying out his skills as a crime fighter.

According to a report, the “Cheers” hunk has signed on to play the chief investigator on CBS’ “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.”

According to executive producer Carol Mendelsohn, "You can create a new character on the page, but until the perfect actor comes along and breathes life into it, it's just words. We're very excited Ted Danson came along."

Don McGill, another producer on the show, added, "From the moment we all started talking about the role, it was clear he couldn't be more perfect. Intelligence, wit, warmth, depth of character and emotion, he brings it all. And now he'll have to bring latex gloves, too."
