Russell Brand & Katy Perry's Divorce Upsets Hindu Leaders

On the coattails of his divorce announcement, Russell Brand was spotted out in London, England earlier this morning (January 3).

The “Arthur” actor looked somber and in no mood for the pesky paparazzi as he kept to himself while passing by the clamoring shutterbugs.

It was just 14 months ago that Brand and ex-wife Katy Perry tied the knot in an elaborate ceremony in Rajasthan, India, and now some Hindu leaders are none-too-happy upon hearing the news of the divorce.

“They should have taken marriage more seriously as it is a sacred rite in Hinduism," Rajan Zed, president of the Universal Society of Hinduism told press. "In Hinduism, marriage is the most important sacrament."

"If celebrities opt for a Hindu wedding, they should be prepared to adhere to the commitment, devotion, responsibility, sanctity and morals, which are attached to it," Zed added.
