According to reports, a royal aide announced the good news with a proclamation signed by the doctors who delivered baby HRH Prince of Cambridge, which read, “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 4:24pm today. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.”
As the world awaits for the announcement of the name of the child of Prince William and Kate Middleton, unlike most children his last name is also unknown.
According to the BBC news, the royal baby could have one of three last names. When surnames become necessary, both Princes William and Harry take their father's royal house name and go by William Wales and Harry Wales.

Receiving a phone call from Prince William with the happy news, the Prince of Wales shared, "Both my wife and I are overjoyed at the arrival of my first grandchild. It is an incredibly special moment for William and Catherine and we are so thrilled for them on the birth of their baby boy."

She traveled from Kensington Palace to St. Mary’s Hospital early this morning (July 22), and Kate Middleton was able to largely avoid being detected by the ravenous press.
The mother-to-be arrived at the London hospital around 5:30am and was taken into the building’s Lindo Wing through the Mary Stanford Wing’s entrance to limit the amount of press coverage and interference.
It won’t be long until we have a new royal baby to celebrate, as Kate Middleton has been admitted to St. Mary’s Hospital in London.
According to Kensington Palace officials, the Duchess of Cambridge is in the “early stages of labor,” and she and Prince William are on the precipice of parenthood. “Things are progressing as normal,” said the rep.
