With a grittier look than many of her other videos, Nicki Minaj released the music video for "Up in Flames" on Tuesday (April 9).
Featuring motorcycle stunts by several talented riders, clips of the "Starships" rapper playing the piano and working in the studio are interspersed.
The song is off her Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded- The Re-Up album and is a throwback to her days of releasing mix-tapes out to the streets.
Recently, Nicki spoke to MTV News about being a female in the male-dominated world of rap. Referring to "Up in Flames," she said, "If a dude was on a that song with me, everyone would've talked about it and they would [argue] 'who had the best verse,' but when I put a song out by myself. [It's] because men run the hip-hop game. Let's be honest, they're the [radio] program directors, they wanna be able to rap stuff and they're not gonna recite a female [verse]. They just feel funny and it is what it is."
