Just a month after slamming eating disorder rumors on Twitter, Miley Cyrus was spotted flaunting her rail thin figure while vacationing in Miami, Florida on Thursday (May 17).
The former "Hannah Montana" star put her slender bod on full display in a pair of high rise denim shorts and a tiny black tube top that she wore with black boots as she tried to dodge shutterbugs by using the side entrance of the Delano Hotel, but still found herself surrounded by fans.
Back in April, Miley put eating disorder rumors to rest when she tweeted out to her more than 5 million followers, "For everyone calling me anorexic, I have a gluten and lactose allergy," adding, "It's not about weight -- it's about health. Gluten is crap anyway!"
The 19-year-old's diet excluded foods containing the protein found in wheat and, after denying eating disorder rumors, Miley encouraged her fans on Twitter to follow suit, saying, "Everyone should try no gluten for a week! The change in your skin, physical and mental health is amazing. You won't go back!"
Although the gluten-free diet has clearly helped Miss Cyrus shed the pounds, Karen Ansel, a registered dietitian and spokeswoman for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, says it might not be the healthiest choice for everyone, explaining, "There's absolutely no evidence that a gluten-free diet promotes weight loss."
Ansel added, "However, there is data that indicates that following a gluten-free diet can result in a diet that's low in key nutrients -- especially iron, zinc and B vitamins such as folate and niacin."
