Mel Gibson: Charged with Battery

After months and months of courthouse conflict, Mel Gibson was charged with misdemeanor battery earlier today (March 11).

The “Patriot” actor was charged after months of investigation by Los Angeles detectives involving the January 2010 dispute between the Gibson and his then-girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva.

The complaint made by Oksana accused Mel of “willfully and unlawfully” using force and violence against her.

According to the Associated Press, the Academy Award winner is scheduled to appear in court later today and is not expected to serve jail time as a result of the charge.
