Posted Monday October 15, 2012 2:00 PM GMT

Taking a break from their hectic acting schedules, Scarlett Johansson, Rooney Mara, Keira Knightley and Mia Wasikowska landed on the November 2012 40th Anniversary Issue of W magazine.

Each channeling a different decade of fashion, the four beauties glammed up to pose for the Steven Klein shot while revealing memories from the era they represent.

Highlights from Miss Johansson's, Miss Knightley's, Miss Mara's and Miss Wasikowska's interview are as follows. For more, be sure to pay a visit to W!

Scarlett Johansson
On her favorite person from the 90s:
“Chris Farley. I thought he was hilarious. Growing up, I used to watch Saturday Night Live just to see him. He threw his whole body into the parts he played: He’d become red and sweaty and frantic. When he died, it was really significant for me.”

Keira Knightley
On fashion trends of the 2000s that she dislikes:
“I think skinny jeans and micro-miniskirts are very unfriendly. I’ve been known to wear both, but on some days it seems like they were invented to make you feel bad about yourself.”

Mia Wasikowska
On who she feels embodies the 1980s the most:
“Madonna. She’s the icon. She’s wholly her own person.”

Rooney Mara
On her favorite 1970s film::
“Paper Moon. I saw it only last year. David [Fincher] made me watch it, and I think I’ve seen it five times since then… I love that ending—it’s not too happy-happy.”
