Given the pair of underage sex allegations in the past few weeks, Kevin Clash has decided he’s done providing the voice for “Sesame Street’s” Elmo character.
The second accuser, Cecil Singleton, is seeking $5 million for what he claims was inappropriate sexual conduct while he was a minor back in 1993.
And it seems the hoopla has finally reached the point where Clash’s bosses have decided it’s time for him to depart from the company.
A Sesame Workshop statement reads, "Unfortunately, the controversy surrounding Kevin’s personal life has become a distraction that none of us want, and he has concluded that he can no longer be effective in his job and has resigned from Sesame Street. This is a sad day for Sesame Street."
The same rep previously declared, "Elmo is bigger than any one person."
