She’s been making waves all over Tinseltown with her new book “Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology,” and Leah Remini paid a visit to “The Howard Stern Show” on Tuesday (November 3) for quite the spirited interview.
During the course of the conversation, the “King of Queens” actress found herself addressing her experiences in the Church of Scientology, specifically her interactions with Tom Cruise.
She used to be a faithful member of the controversial Church of Scientology, though before too long Leah Remini grew weary of the way her fellow parishioners, including Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, seemed to constantly tattle on her.
In her interview with “20/20,” the “King of Queens” star explained how, after she left the church, she finally reconciled with the “Teaching Mrs. Tingle” actress. Following Holmes’ statement, “I regret having upset Leah in the past and wish her only the best in the future,” Remini gave her take on the whole thing.
The Hollywood connection to Scientology has always been pretty strong, but Leah Remini hopes the new documentary “Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief” will help to tell the real story of the controversial cult.
Having left the church back in 2013, the “King of Queens” actress is glad that some of the closely-guarded secrets are now out in the open. On Sunday (March 29) Remini tweeted, "Thank you to the brave who did something about it. And to those who didn't have a voice, you do now."
Firing back against her comment that she left the Scientology camp on account of her daughter, Sofia, the church has responded to Leah Remini's claims with a statement of their own.
The church told Us Weekly that, "It comes as no surprise that someone as self-absorbed as Leah Remini with an insatiable craving for attention would exploit her former faith as a publicity stunt by rewriting her history with it, including omitting that she was participating in a program to remain a Scientologist by her own choice, as she was on the verge of being expelled for her ethical lapses."
She dealt with some serious backlash following her decision to leave the Church of Scientology, and now Leah Remini is ready to set the record straight about the big decision.
During a recent interview with Buzzfeed, the former "Dancing with the Stars" contestant revealed there were "dozens of influencing factors" including the church wanting her to choose it over her family.
