Heading off to what was planned to be a posh Caribbean getaway, Kate Winslet, boyfriend Louis Dowler and two children were spotted at a London airport over the weekend (August 20).
Donning a chic black and white ensemble, the "Titanic" actress and her brood were on their way to stay at billionaire Richard Branson's luxury vacation home where they had hoped to enjoy an extended holiday.
However, those plans were cut short when the Necker Island Great House went up in flames around 4:00 a.m. this morning, after reportedly being struck by lightning stemming from the severe weather of Tropical Storm Irene.
Forced to vacate just two days after arrival, Kate, Louis, Mia and Joe were just a few of the 20 people staying at the spot.
“Kate Winslet, her boyfriend and her family were there and [my daughter] Holly and some of her friends were also staying. My mother was there and they managed to get her out and she is fine," Branson, who was staying at another residence merely 100 years away, told press.
While no one was injured in the fire, Branson noted that his home was "completely destroyed."
