According to reports, a royal aide announced the good news with a proclamation signed by the doctors who delivered baby HRH Prince of Cambridge, which read, “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 4:24pm today. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.”
Though there are plenty more details to come, the first notice will remain outside the hospital for 24 hours before it is sent to the Privy Council.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived at the Lindo Wing of the London hospital at 6 a.m. London time after the 31-year-old went into labor. The pair entered the wing through a side door to avoid the large crowds of admirers and paparazzi awaiting their entrance.
In regards to the little one's future, he will have a shot at the royal crown as recently announced by Queen Elizabeth II in a Letters Patent stating, "All the children of the eldest son of the Prince of Wales should enjoy the style, title and attribute of Royal Highness with the titular dignity of Prince or Princess prefixed to their Christian names."
