Squaring up after a wide-reaching British tabloid scandal, Jude Law is expected to receive $200,000 once the settlement is complete.
According to reports, Rupert Murdoch has agreed to pay damages to three dozen victims affected by his phone hacking claims and tabloid articles.
Britian’s tabloid newspaper News of the World (which in now closed) admitted to publishing 16 articles about the “Sherlock Holmes” actor between 2003 and 2006 by using info obtained by hacking cell phones.
In a statement, Law remarked that Murdoch’s company was “prepared to do anything to sell their newspapers and to make money, irrespective of the impact it had on people’s lives.”
“For me this case was never about money. It was about standing up for myself and finding out what had happened,” Jude told press.
