She made millions from her “Harry Potter” franchise, and now J.K. Rowling is taking a stab at an older audience with her new novel.
The book, titled “The Casual Vacancy” and due to hit stores September 27th, is said to be "blackly comic, thought-provoking and constantly surprising," and will be published by Little, Brown.
According to the publisher’s website, the story takes place in a small town in England called Pagford. "Pagfod is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty façade is a town at war."
"Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils ... Pagford is not what it first seems."
