Just two days after the tragic shootings at a midnight screening of "The Dark Knight Rises" in Aurora, Colorado, Christian Bale has released a statement expressing his sadness towards the horrible occurrence.

While en route from Paris with the rest of his co-stars, the 38-year-old star of the Batman trilogy wrote, "Words cannot express the horror that I feel. I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them."

She dated Heath Ledger from 2002 until 2004 and Naomi Watts recently told press that she had some wonderful moments with the late actor.

"We had a beautiful relationship, only a couple of years, but he was a man who was completely full of joy, and there was a lot of laughing and affection. He was really a very special soul.”

Heath Ledger left a massive void in the entertainment industry when he died due to an overdose last year, and now Jude Law will be choosing the recipient of his annual scholarship award for 2009.
