“Expendables” Cleans Up at the Box Office

As the fall season approaches, everyone is looking for some last-minute end-of-summer action- and that’s just what “The Expendables” had to offer over the weekend.

The Sylvester Stallone thriller fared quite well in its opening weekend, scoring a respectable $35 million so far.

Coming in at #2 was Julia Roberts’ “Eat, Pray, Love” with $23.7 million, giving Roberts her highest opening weekend numbers since 2001’s “America’s Sweethearts.”

And in third place for the weekend was “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” with an anemic $10.5 million, vastly under what was expected, especially considering the warm welcome it received from Comic-Con goers.
