Taking the stage to pay tribute to the late singing legend, Christina Aguilera belted out "At Last" during Etta James' funeral on Saturday (January 28).
The "Voice" co-judge was dressed in all-black attire as she greeted attendees at the Homegoing Celebration held at Bishop Noel Jones City of Refuge in Gardena, California.
Just three days removed from the saddening loss of Grammy Award winning singer Etta James, fellow vocalist Adele has paid tribute in the form of a blog post.
The "Rollin In the Deep" hitmaker started off her string of kind words by penning, "What a lady Etta James was. She was the ultimate original."
Sadly, she lost her battle to leukemia on Friday (January 20), and Etta James' famous friends are speaking out and paying their respects online .
Beyoncé, who portrayed James in the movie “Cadillac Records,” wrote on her website, “This is a huge loss. Etta James was one of the greatest vocalists of our time. I am so fortunate to have met such a queen. Her musical contributions will last a lifetime. Playing Etta James taught me so much about myself, and singing her music inspired me to be a stronger artist. When she effortlessly opened her mouth, you could hear her pain and triumph. Her deeply emotional way of delivering a song told her story with no filter. She was fearless, and had guts. She will be missed.”
In what comes as quite the saddening news to the music world, Etta James has passed away at the age of 73.
The legendary R&B singer left this world while receiving care at a medical facility in Riverside, California, according to a family spokesperson.
