Causing quite the stir in the Hollywood headlines on Monday (June 23), Conan O’Brien reportedly got slapped with a penalty from the IRS after missing nearly $8,000 in back taxes on his family’s home in Westerly, R.I.

Making sure to avoid an unnecessary drama, the LA-based comedian stated that he would have paid the IRS sooner if he knew there was an issue. Via a statement this afternoon, the "Conan" host told press, "As soon as I was made aware that the tax bill on my parents' house was being mailed to the wrong address, I paid the bill immediately. The problem has been corrected. I am grateful to the reporter at the Westerly Sun who spotted this error and notified me."

Never one to disappoint, Conan O’Brien opened up the 2014 MTV Movie Awards with a bevvy of celebrity cameos, 50 to be exact.
