Cillian Murphy has blamed cell phones for destroying storytelling.
The 40-year-old actor stars in upcoming shootout thriller 'Free Fire' which is set in Boston in 1978 and he insists the decade which features was an important factor in him signing up for Ben Wheatley's action film because modern movies of the same ilk have to give technology too much prominence.
In an interview with the Metro newspaper, he explained: "Cell phones have destroyed storytelling - you have to write in that his batteries failed or cut in a line saying, 'No signal! What's happening?'"
Murphy also enjoyed growing a moustache for his role as gangster Chris, something which was a fashion staple of the era.
As he nears the July release of his new movie "Red Lights," Cillian Murphy took time out of his demanding schedule to lend his good looks to the cover of the May 2012 issue of Clash magazine.
The 35-year-old Irish actor looked suave for the edgy front page shot by Christian Oita while opening up about topics including his upcoming thriller, as well as his return to London theater in the one-man show 'Misterman'.
