After a terrifying capture in Syria, Richard Engel and two others were freed from captivity and made an appearance on the "Today Show" this morning (December 18).
NBC’s Chief Foreign correspondent was captured along with producer Ghazi Balkiz and cameraman John Kooistra after traveling with rebels in the Middle Eastern country five days ago when gunmen surrounded them and forced the men to follow.
According to Engel, the men were subjected to psychological torture, which included mock executions. The men were freed after their kidnappers were killed in a fire fight with Syrian rebels.
Engel, Balkiz and Kooistra appeared on “Today” this morning after being transported to Turkey. Watch their interview below.
