World Music Awards Honors Avril Lavigne, Akon

Monaco, France was the scene for the World Music Awards last night.  And it was an event to behold, honoring music’s best in 2007.

As a newcomer to the industry, Mika made a huge showing, taking home awards for best-selling pop/rock artist, best-selling British artist, best-selling new artist, and best-selling male entertainer.  Sheesh!

Akon also made waves in Monaco.  He was awarded the best-selling R&B Male artist honor, as well as best-selling African Artist, and best-selling internet artist.

Celine Dion was given the coveted Legend Award, while Avril Lavigne took home the honors for best-selling pop/rock female artist and best-selling Canadian artist.
