Valentino Party Brings Stars To Rome
Some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry have taken to the streets of Rome for the weekend-long celebrations of designer Valentino Garavani’s 45th anniversary.
The festivities, which have been dubbed the “Red Party,” kicked off on Friday evening at the Museum of Ara Pacis. Friends of the designer in attendance included: Uma Thurman, Claire Danes, Eva Mendes, Sienna Miller, Sarah Jessica Parker, Liz Hurley, along with many others.
According to Time magazine, Valentino responded to persistent rumors about a possible planned retirement from the fashion industry before unveiling some of his latest works
“I would love to know why you are so interested in this (retirement),” Garavani quipped, adding, “there are no problems.”
In addition to answering questions and showing off his work at the museum event, Valentino and guests attended a dinner for 900 held in the Temple of Venus, in front of the Colosseum.
And on tap for Saturday, press reports indicate that “Valentino will show his haute couture collection in the Baglivi and Incisa halls of the Monumental Complex of the Santo Spirito in Sassia, the oldest charitable institution of Rome, followed by a gala dinner in the Villa Borghese gardens.”
Quite the 45th anniversary party! One has to wonder what’s in store for the 50th anniversary party… if Valentino holds true to his word by continuing to create “sexy and glamorous” clothing.
