Uma Thurman Gets Wings
When it comes to all the pomp and circumstance in Hollywood, Uma Thurman usually tries to steer clear. But at the Wings Worldquest 2008 Women of Discovery Awards Gala last night, she was front row and center.
The “Kill Bill” babe pulled off a conservative-yet-sexy look that kept the flashbulbs flashing, sporting a black pants suit with a little hint of cleavage beneath her beaded necklace.
And believe it or not, despite her distinctive looks, Uma has been mistaken for other actresses by her fans. She recently told press, “I used to get mistaken for Jodie Foster all the time and I was mistaken for Gwyneth Paltrow the other day. I let them know I’m not who they’ve mistaken me for. Usually, they’re really hoping that you’re that other person. Then they follow up by asking who you are and to list your film credits. You’ve got your groceries in your hand, or you’re sitting with a friend having dinner, and they ask: ‘What have you been in?’ I tell them to Google me and let me get back to my dinner.”
As for the upcoming election, the “Pulp Fiction” star isn’t revealing who she’s voting for. “It’s a rare phenomenon that there are two really decent candidates to lead the Democratic party. They’re both compelling in different ways. I’m staying out of it because either of them would be a step up from where we are. It’s going to be a difficult job but I’m very happy there are two strong candidates.”
