Monday, January 26, 2009 Travolta Extortion Plot Leads to More Charges
With police moving swiftly in the matter, a Bahamiam paramedic named Tarino Lightbourne has been officially charged in a scheme to extort $25 million from John Travolta. According to press reports, the 47-year-old Lighbourne has “entered a plea of not guilty to charges of attempting to extort and conspiracy to extort from Travolta after the death of the actor’s 16-year-old son, Jett,” Bahamian Magistrate Carolita Bethel explains. As of this time, the exact nature of Lightbourne’s alleged plan have remained private - although police have made mention that there’s an important document which is being sought. Along with Terry, authorities detained Sen. Pleasant Bridgewater on “charges of abetment to extort and conspiracy to extort. She was released Friday on $40,000 bail, saying that she plans to fight ‘untrue and unfair charges.’” A third suspect, former tourism minister Obie Wilchcombe, was also brought in for questioning this past Friday but “has not been charged.”
