TomKat Preps For Beckham Welcome Bash

Expectations are extremely high this Sunday at the A-list only gala to welcome David Beckham to America. Tom Cruise and his wife, Katie Holmes, are rumored to be the driving force behind the festivities, which comes as no surprise as the two couples have been long-time friends.

And with Tom’s lavish self in control, along with a guest list that includes Will Smith, Oprah Winfrey, George Clooney, Jim Carrey, Steven Spielberg and Jerry Bruckheimer, it can be assured that all 600 available seats will be taken.

Actually, in an attempt to make the party less chaotic, the media has been banned from attending the event. “This is the hardest party to get into,” an insider close to the situation was reported as saying, adding, “It’s A-list only - and no press.”

And while the party may be off-limits, Becks’ fans will get the chance to see him tomorrow (July 21), when he makes his highly anticipated debut with the Los Angeles Galaxy. Even though David’s sporting an injured ankle, the game has already been sold out as fans hope to see some of the fabled Beckham scoring magic.

Besides playing soccer and attending parties, David may soon find himself with another occupation… acting. With the support of mega stars like Cruise and Oprah, there’s already speculation that David will eventually try his hand on-screen, and while his camp currently denies those rumors, it didn’t stop Pirates of the Caribbean producer Jerry Bruckheimer from commenting that “Beckham had what it takes to be a leading man.”
