Monday, May 07, 2007 TomKat Neighbors Up With the Beckham’s
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have been in the market for a new home ever since the birth of their daughter, Suri Cruise. Unfortunately, there has been nothing for sale that the celebrity couple felt they could call home. So, instead of continuing to look at other homes for sale, Cruise decided to make an offer on a place that wasn’t even up for sale.
Cruise, who has been renting for the past four years, paid an estimated $35 million for the family’s new estate. This offer was in such excess of the market price that the current owners had no choice but to sell their home to the Hollywood superstar couple.
In addition to the seven-bedroom mansion, the property also includes a tennis court, swimming pool, and guest quarters. All of this space will be put to good use. In addition to Katie and Suri, Cruise’s adopted children Conor and Isabella - from his marriage to Nicole Kidman – and his mom live with them. One would think that with Cruise, who brings in over $20 million per movie, could afford to buy his mom her own place to live (Katie would probably not have any objections, either!). Not so. Something else worth mentioning is that the mansion is located just a short walk away from the Beckham’s new pad. Katie and Victoria have become close pals over the past two years, and we’re expecting to see more business ventures from the duo in the near future.
