Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz: Fun on the Fourth
Continuing along with their sociable ways, parents-to-be Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz visited a friend’s house in celebration of Independence Day on Friday (July 4).
The “Outta My Head” singer and her Fall Out Boy hubby chatted it up for awhile before toting their baby bulldog Rigby to the car for the short ride home.
As previously reported by Gossip Girls, the couple were also out kick-starting the holiday weekend on Thursday - with Pete clowning around for the paparazzi by “getting wasted on water” before shooting off some fireworks.
As for the future, Ashlee and Pete are set to become parents later this fall, with a string of rumors that they’ll be welcoming a baby boy into their family - although the sex of the baby hasn’t been confirmed yet.

Rihanna Rocks Essence Festival Stage
Opting to work on Independence Day, Rihanna took the stage to perform at the Louisiana Superdome during the 2008 Essence Music Festival on Friday (July 4).
The New Orleans based festival, which kicked off yesterday and runs until Sunday, “celebrates black music and culture and moved to Houston in 2006 after Hurricane Katrina smashed New Orleans. It returned in 2007, and organizers say Essence is now re-establishing its place in the city.”
According to AP reports, “an estimated 200,000 people attended the festival last year, supplying a needed injection of business into the city’s hurricane-hammered tourism industry.”
“The festival is so special to New Orleans,” said Irma Thomas, a resident who’s still struggling to rebuild her home from Katrina-related damages.
Meanwhile, the festival will be honoring Patti LaBelle tonight - as the soul diva will enjoy “performances by two original members of LaBelle — Sarah Dash and Nona Hendryx — as well as performances by Chaka Khan, Angie Stone, Ledisi, Chrisette Michele, Ruby Amanfu and Thomas.”

Kate and Lance’s Independence Day Smooch
With their romance in full bloom, Kate Hudson and Lance Armstrong joined in on the Fourth of July festivities at pal Courteney Cox’s house on Friday (July 4).
For the celebratory outing, Kate sported a festive hair wrap while carrying her son Ryder - who appeared to be sound asleep - as Lance stood nearby.
According to an insider on the scene, “Lance constantly kept his hand close to her as she smiled adoringly at her newfound love.”
Eventually the couple leaned in for a quick, tender kiss before heading in for the party, where, it can be assumed that they kept on with their PDA loving ways!

Kim Kardashian’s Holiday Shopping Spree
With her football hunk boyfriend by her side, Kim Kardashian engaged in a little Independence Day shopping in Hollywood on Friday (July 4).
The “Keeping Up with the Kardashian’s” star looked her usual lovely self, clad in a flowing summery dress with matching sandals while her beau, Reggie Bush, kept things casual in a white t-shirt, jeans and sneakers.
Meanwhile, as previously reported by Gossip Girls, Kim has proudly announced that she’s in the development stages of her own signature fragrance, and she hopes to have it on the shelves of your local department stores by Mother’s Day 2009.
She wrote, “It has always been a dream of mine to start my own perfume business, since I love to mix fragrances together and come up with new and different scents! I hope you understand my total excitement as I let you, the readers of my blog, become the first to know that I am creating my own fragrance!!!”

Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy: Too Close?
It’s always cute to see a girl sporting her man’s clothes, but the reverse situation can be a little creepy, as evidenced by Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy’s switch-up yesterday.
The “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” funnyman and his longtime blonde babe girlfriend were spotted strolling along the Malibu beach on the Fourth of July looking very much in love.
But when they returned to their beach house, things went awry, as Carrey re-emerged with a very noticeable change in ensemble, reminiscent of Sacha Baron Cohen’s “Borat” character.
The paparazzi and beach goers alike laughed hysterically at the comedian’s antics, making yesterday’s Independence Day holiday one to remember.

Nicole Richie: Fourth of July Beach Bliss
Sometimes a girl just needs time for herself. And yesterday, Nicole Richie left her boyfriend Joel Madden and daughter Harlow Winter behind for an afternoon with some gal pals.
The paparazzi caught up to the former Simple Life cutie enjoying a day of fun in the sun at a beach party in Malibu, California. She wore a short white cleavage-baring dress overtop a pair of denim shorts with a pair of sunglasses.
And it sounds like Britney Spears isn’t the only cameo queen in Hollywood. According to sources, when Nicole filmed her bit part on “Chuck” last week, she was a huge hit. And there’s even talk of her returning for another episode.
An insider revealed, “It was fantastic. She was friendly. Everybody loved her. She has a great fight scene.” Richie plays a high school nemesis of Yvonne Strahovski’s character Sarah.

Jessica Alba: Pregnant to Perky in 1 Month
It was a relaxing and enjoyable Independence Day for Jessica Alba and her hubby Cash Warren, as they strolled through Beverly Hills - stopping at Bloomingdale’s along the way.
The “Good Luck Chuck” actress looked positively perfect in a pink-to-red strappy summer dress teamed with a pair of white sandals and some oversized shades, while her beau kept it casual in a white t-shirt, shorts, and flip flops.
Just a month after giving birth to daughter Honor Marie Warren, Jessica is looking fit and trim. Then again, she was voted the sexiest woman in the world by FHM magazine last year, so she definitely knows how to work it.
As for mothering, Alba says she’ll work to balance strictness and love. “I don’t want to be my child’s best friend; I want to be a mom. But I do want my child to come to me when they have problems and need to talk, so it’s going to be about treading that line.”

TomKat’s Fourth of July Festivities
There was a strong show of patriotism throughout the celebrity world yesterday, and Tom Cruise led the way - carrying his two-year-old daughter Suri while taking in the Fourth of July festivities near his home in Telluride, Colorado on Friday.
Accompanied by wife Katie Holmes and son Conner, 13, the Top Gun stud wore a cowboy hat while Suri donned a headband with two American flags sticking out of it.
Throughout their family stroll, Katie, who’s currently prepping for a Broadway gig, said “Happy 4th of July” to photographers before Tom and Co. drove off in their SUV.
Cruise recently talked about how he was “amazed” by his growing daughter, telling press: “She likes to dance and sing, get her nails done with mom - really beautiful!”

Zanessa: Off For a Holiday Getaway!
Arriving back home in Los Angeles following a NYC promotional trip, Vanessa Hudgens enjoyed one night’s rest before meeting up with her “High School Musical” boyfriend Zac Efron for a trip out of town.
The Disney co-star couple were spotted exiting a limousine earlier today (July 4) - boarding a private jet one at a time to avoid being photographed together… for the time being.
Meanwhile, a helping hand was spotted carrying a travel-ready surfboard over to the plane, leading to suggest that Zac and Vanessa are undoubtedly looking forward to a little beach time together.
And with fellow “HSM” star Ashley Tisdale soaking up the rays with her beau Jared Murillo down in Hawaii, it doesn’t seem all that out of the question that we may just see a Disney foursome living it up in the island paradise.

Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez Hit Toronto
Rising Disney stars/BFFs Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez have made the trip up north to Toronto, Ontario, as the duo arrived arm-in-arm to their hotel on Thursday afternoon (July 3).
With her Wizards of Waverly Place pal there for support, Miss Lovato is readying for her opening act duties for the Jonas Brothers - with the tour kicking off at the Molson Amphitheatre later tonight.
The North America tour then heads to the States, beginning with a show in Clarkston, Michigan on Saturday night - finally wrapping up on September 5 with a show in West Palm Beach.
As for Lovato, the blooming singer recently told press that “most of the music she’s interested in is too dark to make it on a Disney album” - so, as the story goes, she “turned to the Jonas Brothers to lighten her act up.”
