Tatum O’Neal Busted for Crack Possession

Just when we thought Amy Winehouse had cornered the market on crazy celebrity drug binges, Tatum O’Neal was arrested yesterday on charges of drug possession.

According to reports, the “Paper Moon” actress was observed buying crack cocaine from a 33-year-old man (also arrested) outside her New York City home around 7:30 last night.

The 44-year-old actress was taken into custody and held overnight on charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance.  And according to officers on the scene, she tried a little bit of fast-talking to try and wiggle her way out of the incident.

O’Neal told police, “You know who I am, right?  I’m researching a part- I’m doing this for a part as a junkie.  Can’t we just forget about this?”

The arrest comes 12 years after her release from rehab back in 1996 when she claimed to be free of her drug addiction.  Tatum’s rep is yet to comment on the incident.
