Tuesday, March 13, 2007 Sylvester Stallone Faces Steroid Charges
Sylvester Stallone faces legal ramifications after bringing a restricted substance into Australia. The famous movie star has been charged with one count of importing a banned substance. Stallone and staff were detained at Sydney airport for a number of hours on Feb. 16, after entering the country on business. Customs officials were quick to go through his bags, confiscating certain possessions, and later had a detail search his hotel room. Apparently, an “x-ray of his bag led to the unveiling of 48 vials of Jintropin, a human growth hormone.” The substance confiscated is considered a “performance enhancing drug and can only be used within Australia if it is allowed by the Therapeutic Goods Administration.” Despite the legal trouble, Stallone was not forced to stay in court for the trouble he caused. The maximum prison term is five years and the highest fine is eighty-six thousand dollars, which will undoubtedly be wrapped up by Stallone’s lawyers. Stallone seemed unnerved when he referred to the airport incident as a “misunderstanding.”
The case will not be reopened until April 24th, when the court will take a plea from Stallone.
