Wednesday, November 07, 2007 Shakira Shows Some Love “In the Time of Cholera”
When you’re as rich and famous as Shakira, you get to pick and choose which projects you want to work on. And thanks to Gabriel Garcia Marquez, she was convinced to sing on the soundtrack of “Love in the Time of Cholera.” The film had its premiere in Las Vegas, and there was no shortage of celebrity sightings. But more than that, the even benefitted Shakira’s Pies Descalzos (Bare Feet) Foundation. The Latina singer told press, “Bare Feet supports children and families who have been disenfranchised and displaced by the ongoing conflict in my native Colombia, the beautiful land which Garcia Marquez describes with such lushness in ‘Love in the Time of Cholera.’” The “Underneath My Clothes” singer contributed three amazing songs to the new soundtrack, which also features instrumental pieces by Antonio Pinto, a Brazilian composer known for his work on “City of God” and “Central Station.”
Shakira’s songs, “Hay Amores,” “Despedida,” and “Pienso en Ti” all showcase her amazing trademark voice, and give the album depth as well as a little sex appeal.
Enjoy the pictures of Shakira performing in Las Vegas last night (November 6).
