Ryan Phillippe and Reese Witherspoon Talk Turkey

Divorce is a tricky thing. Not only does it destroy families and put children in the middle, but it also has a tendency to drag on for ages. Reese Witherspoon’s divorce from Ryan Phillippe is starting to look very similar to other Hollywood splits - messy.

Apparently Reese is attempting to make off with their two children. She had requested primary custody of Ava, seven, and Deacon, three, in her November filing. Ryan isn’t too keen on that, taking legal action of his own.

Phillippe has officially responded to Reese’s filing, seconding her motion for joint legal custody of the kids, but in return requesting joint physical custody of Ava, 7, and Deacon, 3. He has requested that visitation be “equally allocated” between the two Cruel Intentions stars.

In a move that has recently been unprecedented (see Bobby Brown, K-Fed) Ryan has decided not to seek spousal support from Witherspoon, despite the fact that she makes a lot more money than him. The two didn’t have a prenup, so Phillippe is entitled to half of Reese’s assets.

In a further shocker, Phillippe did not block Witherspoon from seeking spousal support from him. Although Reese makes tons more money than him, it looks like Ryan is being the bigger person and leaving the door open to continue to take care of his family if need be.

In the midst of all the divorce drama, one has to hope that it is for the best, and that the kids are being well cared for.
