Rosie O’Donnell vs. Elisabeth Hasselbeck: Trump Weighs In

The CBS show “The View” has been especially entertaining as of late.  First Star Jones announces her departure from the show a few days early, to the obvious surprise of Barbara Walters.  Then Rosie O’Donnell gets Star’s spot, despite mixed feelings from the other co-hosts.  And now Rosie is kicking the crap out of View co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck on the air.

Rosie and Elisabeth have been at odds for awhile, though.  I mean, come on; you take ultra liberal Rosie and crazy-conservative Elisabeth and put them at a table to discuss current events?  Of course sparks are gonna fly.  This time they flew like none other...on a split screen no less.

Wednesday’s heated debate was the culmination of a fight that started on ‘The View’ last week, when O’Donnell said, “655,000 Iraqi civilians have died. Who are the terrorists?”

Conservative critics said O’Donnell was calling U.S. troops terrorists. Wednesday, Hasselbeck said O’Donnell should clarify her statement.

“I asked you if you believed what the Republican pundits were saying,” O’Donnell said to Hasselbeck. “Did I say yes?” Hasselbeck replied. “You said nothing and that’s cowardly,” O’Donnell shot back. “No, no, no. Do not call me a coward because I sit here every single day, open my heart and tell people exactly what I believe,” Hasselbeck shouted. “So do I,” O’Donnell replied.

As the fight continued, we all were wondering when Donald Trump was going to come out and hold Rosie down, while Elisabeth kicked her in the side.  But there was no such Trump.  Instead, he voiced his opinions to the press.  He began by addressing Hassselbeck’s claim that he was obnoxious.

“Well I am obnoxious, so on that she’s right I must say but, y’know, Elisabeth is not a very smart person, she’s one of the dumber people in television. To see that she supports the war, and she’s solidly behind the war, give me a break. This one, I think, Rosie should win, but Rosie’s not much herself… I think anybody who’s against the war in Iraq is the winner in this fight because, to justify the war in Iraq, only an imbecile could do that”

With only three weeks left in Rosie’s View Career, it will be interesting to see where this all goes.  Stay tuned for more details.
