Saturday, August 11, 2007 Rihanna’s Umbrella Is More Than Meets The Ear
She’s riding high on her four MTV Video Music Award nominations, but Rihanna may be showing for real why she’s a “Good Girl Gone Bad.” Her smash hit “Umbrella” has come to be more than just a fun pop song. According to the tune’s writer, there’s a much more sexual meaning when you read between the lines. Terius Youngdell Nash, aka The DREAM penned the song, and he says that he was feeling a bit randy when he put pen to paper. After all, it only took him twelve minutes to write. “That’s right, (Umbrella took) 12 of them nice lil’ minutes. I’ve gotten to the point where songwriting is like freestyling - you enter the booth and let it come out. I’ll use certain things for metaphors, like ‘Umbrella’... Once I get the thing I’m attaching the song with, then I’m running all the other tricks through the song to create that element.” Enjoy the pictures of Rihanna leaving a hair salon on Thursday (August 9), and out to eat the previous evening.
