Rihanna: My Dad Was A Cocaine Addict
Fame usually comes with a price. Usually it’s privacy. And for R&B singer Rihanna, her family life has been made public.
The Barbados-born 19-year-old has come out about her tumultuous home life growing up. She reports that her mom and dad were constantly fighting over her dad’s drug habit.
“I knew that my mom and dad would argue when there was foil paper with an ashtray. He would just go into the bathroom all the time. I didn’t know what it was,” she confessed to press.
Her father’s addiction, which he has since overcome, left the childrearing duties to her mother. And her mom raised her to respect others and think like a woman. “She never held back from me in terms of being too young to know certain things, so I am very mature for my age,” said the chart-topping songstress.
And as Rihanna parlays that maturity in to mainstream success, she has big dreams for her future. “I would like to probably start some companies like a make-up company, a clothing line or maybe a swimsuit line.”
While her hit “Umbrella” continues to dominate the charts, Rihanna will be touring all summer, so check her out on a stage near you.
