Prince Harry’s Wartime Hopes
Prince Harry has been fighting in Afghanistan since his deployment this past December. And according to a press release, he’s been thinking about his late mother, Princess Diana, regularly.
Harry told press, “Hopefully she would be proud. She would be looking down having a giggle about the stupid things that I’ve been doing, like going left when I should have gone right, finding myself in an awkward position earlier today.”
It seems Harry’s older brother, Prince William is of the mindset that their mother would be approving of his decision to fight overseas. “William sent me a letter saying how proud he reckons that she would be. You know, it’s one thing that I don’t necessarily think about the whole time because I’ve got the guys to worry about. You worry about yourself, you worry about the blokes you’re looking after, you worry about the blokes that you’re not even looking after.”
As for his grandmother the Queen, Harry reports that she was behind him from the beginning. “She was very ‘pro’ me going ... She’s a very good person to talk to about it, her knowledge of the army is amazing for a grandmother. I suppose it’s slightly her job. She told me I’m off to Afghanistan so that was the way it was supposed to be.”
