Pride Coming To Theaters Soon

The newly labeled A-list actor, Terence Howard, is on the big screen again in the inspirational drama Pride.

The new film features stars such as Bernie Mac (The Bernie Mac Show), Tom Arnold (True Lies) and Kimberly Elise (Manchurian Candidate), but its real drawing power comes from the positively received Terence Howard (Crash, Hustle & Flow).

Howard’s character is based on Jim Ellis, a coach who motivated young minds for over thirty years.  The formula may sound similar to every other sports drama released, but Howard commented on the difference by saying, “There have been a million inspirational movies made about football, and a million inspirational movies made about hockey, but I believe that this is the first one about swimming.”

The living Jim Ellis was at first worried about Terence Howard playing him, as he was unfamiliar with Howard’s work and was initially concerned about his role as a pimp in Hustel & Flow. Despite this initial view, Ellis figured, “I’d better find out who this Terrence Howard guy is, if he is going to play me.”

Ellis’ opinion quickly changed.  “By the time I finished the movie, I was both exhausted and excited. This guy could really act. And he was just handsome enough to play me,” he added with a smirk.

The movie may be emotionally inspiring, but you can bet with the likes of Bernie Mac and Tom Arnold, there are guaranteed laughs.  The movie is family oriented, but should be entertaining for anyone who appreciates the actors and plot involved.

Pride is just one of Howard’s many roles this year, but its success will be a determining factor for the actor’s continued rise to the top.  The movie comes out Friday, March 23rd.
