Wednesday, July 08, 2009 President Barack Obama and Family Arrive in Rome
Taking care of his Presidential duties, Barack Obama arrived in Rome, Italy this morning (July 8) to join fellow world leaders at the G-8 summit. Joined by his wife Michelle and daughters Sasha and Malia, Obama looked excited to be in the beautiful Italian city as he stepped off Air Force One. While at the G-8 summit, President Obama along with other leaders will engage in intense talks on threats to global security and stability, including topics like climate change, the continuing global economy crises, and world hunger. When asked how the President would define success at the summit regarding climate issues, White House Press Secretary Gibbs stated, “I think in many ways success for us is going to be getting something through Congress and to his desk that puts in place a system, market-based system that lessens the amount of greenhouse gases in the air.” As for the economy he mused, “This will be more about exchanging views at this midpoint between the two G-20 summits than an opportunity to produce a series of specific deliverables, as you would call them.” Enjoy the pictures of the Obama family arriving in Rome (July 8).
