Pregnant Celebrities Rule the Red Carpet

Pregnancy was the name of the game at the 2008 Academy Awards, with host Jon Stewart even cracking on Jack Nicholson during the show about the matter.

And for Nicole Kidman, Jessica Alba and Academy Award nominee Cate Blanchett, there was only one accessory to be seen with at this year’s Oscars ceremony - a baby bump.

Nicole Kidman showed up with country rocker husband Keith Urban, looking smitten in a simple black Balenciaga gown, accessorized with a “L’Wren Scott-designed 1,399-carat diamond necklace - which contained a total of 7,645 diamonds.”

Jessica Alba, who was there for presenting duties in a deep purple Marchesa gown and accompanied by fiancé Cash Warren, gave credit to her pregnancy as the reason for her lack of nervousness. “I’m not really terribly nervous,” she told press, joking: “Being pregnant is like taking a sedative!”.

Meanwhile, fellow mother-to-be Cate Blanchett, who was nominated in both the best actress and best supporting actress categories (but failed to win either), showed off her round tummy in a lovely blue satin Dries Van Noten gown.
