Tuesday, March 27, 2007 Piven Leaves DVD Tip, Banned From Nobu
Jeremy Piven made some new enemies recently with his less than pleasant demeanor at a Japanese Restaurant in Aspen. The famed actor from the hit HBO series Entourage decided that after the meal, instead of tipping with cash, he would use other means.
Piven was eating at Nobu Matsushisa’s restaurant when the incident occurred. A witness told The New York Daily News that “It was a very busy night, but a table, although cramped, was provided. On his way out, he made a nasty comment to the manager: ‘Thanks for nothing.’”
Before leaving though, Piven dropped a DVD on the table instead of the typical tip of money. After receiving the ‘generous’ tip “an employee ran up the stairs and hurled it at him as he was leaving.” Piven, who was in Aspen for the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival was reportedly told by the manager “that he was never to return to the Aspen restaurant.” Besides being banned in Aspen, Piven is also no longer welcome at Nobu’s locations in L.A. and New York. Despite the unpleasantness that Piven created, his representative did release the following statement on behalf of the actor: “I’m such a fan of Nobu and all of his restaurants. I had a great dinner at the Nobu in Aspen. As always, the meal was excellent and the service was great.”
The incident sounds like something the raucous actor would have done on Entourage. Remember Jeremy, when you are in public… you aren’t Ari Gold, super agent. Yes, you are a celebrity and the public gives you a little leeway, but please, don’t be a jerk.
