Petra Nemcova and Wyclef Jean Head to Haiti

No, it’s not what you think… Wyclef Jean, who is well-known for helping out his native land Haiti, was joined by fellow celebrity/philanthropist Petra Nemcova on a recent trip to the impoverished Caribbean island.

They were there to work on a restaurant project being initiated by Jean’s charity group Yele Haiti.  The establishment will be a boost in the local economy, employing fifteen women, and giving the townies a place to hang out.

Wyclef and Petra also toured Jean’s former stomping grounds, the site of a computer lab that had been set up by his charity as well.

The Fugee told press, “If you want to change a country, unfortunately you’re not going to be able to help eight million people at one time.  But if you can get one or two or three and start to make that change, that will make the difference.”

WYCLEF WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT TO FIGHT THE NEGATIVE IMPLICATIONS OF LINKING AIDS AND HAITI.
The Association of Haitian Physicians Abroad (AMHE) responds to Worobey study, November 7, 2006The Association of Haitian Physicians Abroad (Association des Médecins Haitiens à l’Etranger or AMHE) has reviewed the recent article by Thomas Gilbert and colleagues, reporting a phylogenetic analysis of archival blood samples collected from five early recognized AIDS patients at Jackson Memorial Hospital in 1982-1983.

The study authors identify these five patients as Haitians who left Haiti after 1975. This article has several important limitations and does not provide any scientific breakthrough. Before a detailed critique of this paper, AMHE would like to point at the following remarks in methodological biases that may explain some of the study findings.........FOR THE FULL RESPONSE GO TO www.solutionshaiti.blogspot.com

Big up to you Clef. Haiti needs more people like you. At the same time, I hope your mission is truly humanitarian, and that you have no ambition to ever run for office in Haiti. Keep it real.
