Pete Wentz Clears Up Rumors About Fight
Pete Wentz is on top of the world. His band is selling loads of records. His girlfriend, Ashlee Simpson, is hot. And he even has his own East Village NYC bar. But he was recently accused of beating up a member of the audience at a Fall Out Boy concert.
There are widespread reports that Wentz, 28, attacked a fan for heckling him at their Chicago concert this past Monday (June 11). But Wentz cleared things up today with an official press release.
According to MTV.com, “The story on the Internet is absolutely false. Yes, we were playing an acoustic afterparty for Spin. It was a good time for the most part. Yes, the guy was heckling me and the band, so were other people, most in good fun. But we get heckled onstage all the time, and while I’m a jerk, I’m not the kind of person who would ever lash out at someone simply over this. I mean I’m not as big as Akon and haven’t written as many good songs. The truth is on the way out the door I had to pass directly next to the guy and I knew it, so I kept my head down and walked out. As I did, the guy reached out and grabbed me and said something I couldn’t really hear—it was a glorious use of the English language, though. As he grabbed me, I punched him. Yell all you want at me, say whatever, but in a situation like that I will defend myself. After that, of course, it got chaotic, [but] we have several independent witnesses that gave statements saying he grabbed me first ... I am not worried over the outcome, as I was clearly in the right. Anything anyone else is saying or writing is simply not true.”
While it makes sense from Wentz’s point of view, this is not the first time he’s been accused of fighting with a fan. This past January, Wentz appeared on an internet video brawling with fans at a New Mexico FOB show.
There are currently no details of any charges being brought against the FOB bassist.

stop giving pete such a hard time about the fight. if sombody grabbed you you’d be scared to. he was only defending himself. pete doesnt seem like a bad person. im not completly sure about the new mexico show though, it’d be good to hear where that came from. petes a good guy and needs to stopp havin so much bad publicity. I feel sorry for the guy. i heard he needs a bodyguard 24/7, that’d suck
