PETA Dislikes Britney Spears and Paris Hilton

Taking a break from the Michael Vick dog fighting scandal, PETA recently sent some of their resources to hold a protest of Britney Spears and Paris Hilton’s recent purebread puppy purchases.

In what must have been quite the sight, the animal-loving group members were said to have been wearing Britney and Paris masks while holding signs reading, “Shelter Dogs Are Dying and I Don’t Care.”

PETA’s reasoning behind the need for such efforts states: “For every dog or cat purchased from a breeder or a pet store, another dog or cat on death row at an animal shelter must be killed. Every time Spears and Hilton buy yet another dog, they are displaying their ignorance of - or indifference to - the fact that millions of animals are killed every year in the nation’s shelters for lack of good homes.”

Obviously upset over the matter, PETA director Daphna Nachminovitch adds, “Forget jail or rehab; these selfish stars should do a stint in an animal shelter, where they would witness the plight of dogs who end up there after being bought on an impulse.”

For some reason, we can’t help but think that there are more important matters for the group to deal with than two young stars buying puppies. Don’t thousands of people buy purebread pups every day?
