Penelope Cruz Rubs Shoulders With Royalty

It’s not every day that you get to hang out with the Queen of Spain.  But then again, you’re not Penelope Cruz, then, are you?

The “Vanilla Sky” actress got an invite to the Queen Sofia Spanish Institute’s annual Gold Medal Gala, along with President Clinton, and Oscar De La Renta.

And last night turned out to be royally awesome, as the gala took place at the Delano & Aldrich on Park Avenue.  Queen Sofia, herself, gave Cruz and Clinton the Gold Medal Honor, in recognition of their contributions to the betterment of relations between the United States and Spain.

Penelope wore a dark-aqua blue strapless dress, and a prom-ish updo as she graciously accepted the gold medal from the Queen.
