Penelope Cruz: Best Actress Around, Says Co-Star

Out for her Gotham Tribute Honor, Penelope Cruz attended the 18th Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City on Tuesday night (December 2).

Along with attending posh affairs, the stunning Spaniard was just recently announced as a nominee for best supporting female in Woody Allen’s “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” for this year’s Film International’s Spirit Awards, which are handed out February 21.

Miss Cruz is also being mentioned as a possible Oscar nominee, with her “Elegy” co-star Dennis Hopper telling press: “To me, she’s the best actress around right now.”

“She gives good performances this year - one in Woody Allen’s film Vicky Cristina Barcelona and one in Isabel Coixet’s Elegy - and they’re two of the best performances I’ve seen in years.”
