Friday, June 01, 2007 Paris Hilton: Just Gotta Have Faith
It won’t be long before Paris Hilton finds out if orange is her color. By 11:59 on June 5th (next Tuesday) she will be behind bars to serve her 23-day sentence, taking her newly found spirituality along with her.
Century Regional Detention Facility will be home to Miss Hilton until late June, when she is released for time served. According to Los Angeles County sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore, there will be no early release for Paris. Her sentence has already been reduced from 45 days to 23 days. Even though Michelle Rodriguez was released after serving only a few hours of a 60-day sentence due to overcrowding, it won’t happen for Miss Hilton. “The situation in the jail will not determine (Hilton’s) release,” Whitmore said. “She has been given a full sentence. She will do her full sentence.”
What does Paris have to look forward to? According to a press release from the jail, she will get the same standard-issue kit all incoming inmates at the 2,200-bed facility receive: a toothbrush, tube of toothpaste, soap, a comb, deodorant, shampoo and shaving implements, along with a jail-issued pencil, stationery, envelopes and stamps. Paris will be residing in the special needs unit of the facility with one hand-selected roommate. The Simple Life star will not be allowed to take her mobile phone with her, and will have to use the public payphone if she wishes to call anyone during her daily hour outside her cell. All in all, it sounds pretty scary. Nicole Richie is weighing in on the whole ordeal. “The way that Paris’ whole entire case was dealt with was, A, out of her control but B, really unfair,” Richie said. “Sometimes people just get exploited so I can only hope that doesn’t happen to me.” It very well could happen to her, as she is awaiting her hearing for a 2nd DUI offense. We ‘ll keep you updated on the Paris Hilton prison term. In the meantime, enjoy the pictures of Paris sporting a ‘Faith’ sweatshirt and carrying some more spiritually-themed reading material out in LA on May 31!

COMMENTS I find this whole idea of Paris turning to religion as being a positive. The worst that could happen is a girl who idolizes her will try to emulate her and get involved with religion and spirituality. The idea that Paris is using it to get out of her sentence is not of the greatest moral standards - but sometimes a desirable outcome is more important than the debacle that caused it.
