We were all shocked to hear about the tragic suicide attempt made by Owen Wilson this past Sunday. And now that he’s had some time to get perspective, the You Me And Dupree actor has decided to step away from acting as he works towards recovery.
The “Butterscotch Stallion” actor has announced that he will not be filming his role in the upcoming Ben Stiller film Tropic Thunder. The DreamWorks comedy has been filming for six weeks in Hawaii, and Wilson was due on the set in two or three weeks to film his scenes.
The final decision for Wilson to skip the movie was reportedly mutual between Owen and longtime pal Stiller, with no plans yet as to whether Wilson’s character will be omitted from the storyline, or if he’ll be replaced by another actor.
The decision to put his professional life on hold in favor of his personal life was the right call. In the end, it doesn’t matter how many films you’ve done, if you’re miserable as a result.
Below are a few pictures of Owen's brother, Luke Wilson, at the hospital after Owen's attempted suicide.
