Tuesday, December 09, 2008 Oprah Winfrey Talks Weight Gain
It’s no secret that she’s had an up-and-down battle with her weight for years. And following a 40-pound weight gain (putting her at 200 pounds), Oprah Winfrey is declaring war on her flab. She told press, “I’m mad at myself,” over her newly-acquired pounds, admitting that she’s “fallen off the wagon.” And Winfrey admits that she’s tired of constantly battling the bulge. “I’m embarrassed … I can’t believe that after all these years, all the things I know how to do, I’m still talking about my weight. I look at my thinner self and think, ‘How did I let this happen again?’” And now that she’s getting real about her weight, Oprah pledges to do whatever it takes to get healthy again. She’ll address the issue on her January 5th show, kicking off her “Best Life Week.” Enjoy the pictures of Oprah Winfrey at the 17th Annual Women In Entertainment Power 100 Breakfast (December 5).

Weight is genetics, as Oprah is going to learn AGAIN. Read Rethinking Thin by Gina Kolata. She interviewed research scientists not people who make money (that includes the government) from people trying to lose weight. What the REAL scientists said is: You have a +/_ 10 pound window that you can control. There is a set point in the middle of that which is set by genetics. Among the research was a study that looked at adopted children. Thin children adopted into fat families stayed thin, fat children adopted into thin athletic families were fitter but still fat. The only method shown to work is surgery. The vertical sleeve gastrectomy is gaining popularity. Posted by on 12/09 at 12:14 PM
She has a hormonal imbalance brought on by the thyroid problem and hormone changes brought on by menopause Posted by on 12/09 at 02:11 PM
This stuff drives me crazy. I feel bad for her but at the same time think this is just ridiculous. She has access to the best in the world and still can’t get it right. Posted by on 12/10 at 02:13 PM
