Thursday, April 12, 2007 No Jail For Snoop Dogg… For Now
Rap entertainer Snoop Dogg was spared prison time after pleading no contest to gun and drug charges in court yesterday (April 11). According to AP reports, “the 35-year-old was given five years of probation and ordered 800 hours of community service instead of jail by a California judge.” Snoop pleaded no contest in the Pasadena courthouse to charges of gun possession and sale or transportation of marijuana, with the ruling coming moments later. Snoop’s attorney Donald Etra said in a statement to the press: “Snoop recognizes he got a great plea deal from prosecutors. He’s going to make sure nothing interferes with keeping his part of the bargain. He’s relieved and glad this case is behind him.” Snoop, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, was arrested in October after police found him in possession of drugs and a gun. Not in the clear yet, Snoop still faces another court case for attempting to carry a baton aboard a plane in September. Bookmark this Story | Share with a Friend
