Monday, November 19, 2007 Nicole Kidman’s Paparazzi Terror
Sure, they’re annoying, but paparazzi have become a way of life for celebrities. But Nicole Kidman testified in the New South Wales state Supreme Court earlier today that one particular paparazzo has made her life miserable at times. The “Moulin Rouge” actress was brought in as a witness in a defamation suit filed by Jamie Fawcett against The Sun-Herald newspaper. And her testimony could prove to be the damning evidence the Sun-Herald needs to beat the charges. Kidman detailed an incident involving Fawcett that reduced her to tears two years ago, in which she feared for her own safety. The event occurred on January 23rd, 2005 while she was on her way to her parents’ house for dinner. During her drive, she described, “I was frightened and I was worried there was going to be an accident.” Reportedly, Fawcett used some questionable driving maneuvers to try to obtain exclusive photographs of the actress, leaving her “really really scared,” and “in tears and distressed.” Nicole also reported being stalked by Fawcett during her honeymoon with Keith Urban in Tahiti, and also last Christmas. She told the court, “I have been pursued many times. I have had this happen in relation to this particular man ... so many times. I employ people to protect me now. I employ people 24 hours to protect myself because I don’t feel equipped to handle things.”
Fawcett is suing The Sun-Herald for running a story that he was more of a stalker than a photographer. And it looks like he’s just been proved to be part of the “stalkerazzi.”
