Nicole Kidman Gears Up for “Compass” Premiere

She’s played everything from a French prostitute (Moulin Rouge) to a witch (Practical Magic, Bewitched), and now Nicole Kidman is pulling out her best “villainess” performance in her new movie “The Golden Compass.”

The Aussie actress was accompanied by her platinum selling country artist husband Keith Urban in London this morning as she left the Claridges Hotel. She’s in the UK prepping for the movie’s premiere, set for tonight.

If you happen to be in foggy London town, stop by the Odeon Cinema in Leicester Square later on this evening and you may catch a glimpse of the Australian power couple. “The Golden Compass” is getting great reviews, especially in Kidman’s department.

The UK Gardian Unlimited said, “If Darth Vader wore a blond wig, a slinky dress and a dab of Chanel behind each ear, he could hardly be as evil as Nicole Kidman, playing the gorgeous villainess Mrs. Coulter in this spectacular new movie version of Northern Lights, the opening episode of Philip Pullman’s fantasy series His Dark Materials… This is the very best sort of part for [Kidman]: statuesque, elegant, seductive, with a hint of cold steel. In many ways, it’s her juiciest character since the sociopathic meteorologist in To Die For.”
